Argentina is not only a country where one can experience all climates and landscapes, but also a country with one of the longest cinematographic traditions – the newly invented cinematograph was brought to Argentina only a few weeks after its Paris debut. Contemporary Argentine cinematography is experiencing a new wave and its films have won plaudits even at European festivals. Case in point – Argentine short films won the Cannes festival’s student section, Cinefondation, in 2006 and 2007. Both, of course, are included in this year’s festival programme presenting the newest production of Argentine short film.
