Where Is the Friend’s Home? 0+

(Khane-ye doust kodjast), Abbas Kiarostami, IR 1987, Persian version / English and Czech subtitles, 83 min
Where Is the Friend’s Home?

Abbas Kiarostami’s poetic Where Is the Friend’s Home takes place in a rural setting in northern Iran. The realistically presented story follows a young boy as he tries to return a schoolbook to his classmate even though he doesn’t know where to find him. Childlike innocence, a sense of responsibility for others, and the purity of friendship encourage the young protagonist to intimately explore the unknown world around him. Against the backdrop of the boy’s search, we encounter compassionate human relations influenced by a strict sense of morality, the problems of adults, and the pressures of work.
