World Festivals: Clermont-Ferrand

When in 1979 three students organized a screening of about fifty short films at the campus of Clermont-Ferrand university in southern France entitled “Sauve qui peut le court-métrage” (Save Short Film) they had no idea they just started one of the world’s most important short film festivals. This year’s 30th festival screened more than 300 films over nine days and attracted almost 140.000 visitors. Its most popular section was, without any doubt, the “Retrospective: Dog” with 47 films about dogs, with dogs and dedicated to dogs. We have included ten of these films as homage to this exceptional festival.
